About Your Opportunity :
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for providing estimating and project cost forecast in an effort to secure work for the Self Perform Carpentry Team. You’ll also serve as the Project Engineer for the Self Perform team to secure and manage project cost, production schedule, and performance in conformance with company policy, standards, and goals. You will report to the Vice President of Self Perform.


How You’ll Contribute:

  • Performs administrative functions including but not limited to:  Maintains project and staffing schedule for Carpentry projects, answers telephone messages and responds to inquiries, manages files for the department, maintains database of supply houses and vendors, composes or transcribes meeting minutes, interoffice memos, and format correspondence to clients, suppliers, vendors, government agencies, and other partners. 
  • Communicates, solicits, and works with sub-contractors in trades to obtain pricing for projects.
  • Reviews drawings and specifications to determine quantities and calculate pricing.
  • Reviews drawings and specifications for assigned portions of preconstruction projects to calculate budgets from schematic through final construction documents.
  • Determines quantities of materials in trades by using estimating department software: Quantity Take Off, Timberline.
  • Prepares take off estimates and price Carpentry work for Wohlsen Projects.
  • Assists manager/supervisor and other department personnel with projects and assignments.
  • Attends and actively participates in department and company meetings.
  • Downloads, organizes, distributes and maintains documents at all phases of preconstruction and estimating.
  • Collects, reviews and process Submittal and RFI project documentation and distribute to appropriate partners 
  • Coordinates and monitors the bid package process and quotes to ensure quote coverage. 
  • Prepares, distributes, and monitors project billings (draws) through to completion. 
  • Activates and maintains accurate project files including logs for AIA change orders, pending change orders, permits, submittals, RFI’s, etc. 
  • Assists the Project Manager to develop, monitor, and update the project schedule and in managing the project 
  • Maintains close-out documents for project completion (i.e., O & M manuals.) 
  • Ensures Safety is never compromised; communicate the project safety program and participate in conducting safety inspections 





  • Bachelor or Associates Degree in Construction Management or related fields preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong understanding of construction terminology
  • Can Navigate Microsoft Office software products
  • Familiarity with Quantity Take Off, Timberline, Sage, Primavera Scheduling, SureTrak, MS Project, Asta Powerproject, and CMiC is a plus. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software Systems, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint 
  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification
  • OSHA 30, First Aid and CPR is preferred
  • Ability to travel and work additional hours when needed to meet business plan goals.
  • Has a valid divers license with the ability to travel to regional offices to support local estimating projects.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.


Physical Requirements

In a normal day, this position requires little to no standing. In a normal day, the employee must be able to sit for 7+ hours. In a normal day, the employee must be able to walk and drive 1-4 hours. Employee must be able to lift/carry up to 20 lbs. maximum; frequently lift/carry up to 10lbs. In this position the employee must be able to use his/her upper extremities for repetitive simple grasping, and fine manipulation. In this position, employee occasionally (0-33%) must be able to bend at waist, squat the knees, climb (including ladders), reach above shoulders, kneel, crawl, use feet (foot controls), and/or work at heights above 6 feet.
